Italian Glass is Illuminating


Glass is making headlines in kitchen showrooms around the country this year. The material, often associated with high tech, is mixing an old world artisan trade and contemporary styling and it is showing up in today’s most fashionable kitchens.

Oggetti Luce, Oggetti’s newest division, has introduced a range of lighting primarily from Italy that is lighting up kitchens with uncommon elegance. The colorful lamps are elegantly hand-crafted with great design and flair, and often they are artist-signed. While most of the globes are glass, one collection utilizes beautiful bone china and another features mosaic made from resin.

Metal is on the Move

Metaphor Bronze is one of the hottest bronze product companies around. Its tiles, molding and hardware are solid cast bronze and made from recycled metal, making it a true green product. Hand finished with proprietary patinas, Metaphor Bronze uses a traditional patina technique that allows the company to create a wide and luxurious color palette. In 2006 and 2007, Bronze Metaphor introduced counter and wall tile that mixes its bronze tiles with a variety of materials - stone, glass and ceramic tile.
